To give women more time to prepare their submissions, here are the themes for the next four issues of Valerie.

May: "He knows what he's doing" Male violence, especially sexual violence and domestic abuse, and the excuses people make for it: how they justify male depravity. How men themselves lie and manipulate in order to get their way. Submissions for this issue close the 15th of May.

July: Women and disability. The intersection between feminism and disability rights, how disabled womens needs may sometimes be forgotten by feminism. How disabled girls and women are uniquely vulnerable to sexual abuse. How disabled girls and women aren't taken seriously by doctors and medical professionals.

September: On the mother daughter dynamic. mothers who abuse their daughters. Teen mothers/single mothers. How some mothers will help indoctrinate their daughters into patriarchy, or ignore / turn a blind eye to their male partners abusing their daughters. General writing on the trials of motherhood: post-partum depression/psychosis, regretting having children...

November: Sexual exploitation. The sex industry (pornography, prostitution, etc) and it's impact.

Writing, poetry, short stories, essays, art and collages and comics, film or book reviews, are all welcome.
